NSW.net provides NSW public libraries with access to free eResources plus significant discounts on eBooks, eAudio, music, videos and online databases.

Statewide eResources

NSW.net provides all NSW public libraries with free access to fifteen statewide online databases from Gale, covering a broad range of topics including news, the arts, science, literature and health.

Statewide databases are available for all NSW public library members. Libraries provide local access to these databases via their website or catalogue so that members can use their public library membership to access them.

The database provided are: 

Gale General OneFile

Gale General OneFile provides millions of articles across wide-ranging topics from thousands of magazines, journals, newspapers, and other authoritative sources.

Gale OneFile: News

Gale OneFile: News provides access to more than 2,300 major U.S. regional, national, and local publications, as well as titles from around the world. In addition to full text articles, users will find images and radio/television broadcasts.

Gale Literature Resource Centre

Gale Literature Resource Center includes literature criticism, biographies, topic overviews, reviews and author interviews.

Gale Health and Wellness

Gale Health and Wellness provides authoritative, up-to-date information on health and wellness topics with access to full text medical journals, magazines, reference works and multimedia.

Gale Business Insights: Global

Gale Business: Insights provides interactive tools and analysis of the history and performance of thousands of companies and industries, including market research, investment and financial reports, and articles from magazines and industry journals.

Gale in Context: Biography

Gale In Context: Biography includes biographical entries, news articles, videos, and primary sources covering international figures from a range of time periods and areas of study. 

Gale in Context: Environmental studies

Gale In Context: Environmental Studies includes reference works, multimedia materials, news and magazines, with a focus on current issues and science. 

Gale in Context: Global issues

Gale In Context: Global Issues includes news articles, videos, country overviews, and primary sources analysing world events, environmental issues, foreign affairs and global trade.

Gale in Context: Opposing viewpoints

Gale In Context: Opposing Viewpoints provides viewpoints, reference articles, videos, and infographics analysing current events, economics, environmental issues, political science and social issues.

Gale in Context: Science

Gale In Context: Science provides information on topics in biology, chemistry, physics and maths, including videos, magazine and news articles, reference entries, and experiments.

Gale in Context: World History

Gale’ in Context: World History includes primary sources, biographies and reference overviews, videos and articles tracing global history from ancient societies to modern conflicts.

Gale Interactive: Science

Gale Interactive: Science allows users to explore and manipulate interactive models in Biology, Chemistry, Earth/Space Science, and Human Anatomy. 

National Geographic Virtual Library

National Geographic Virtual Library includes full text National Geographic magazines from 1888, as well as books, videos and images on geography, history, science and cultures.

National Geographic Kids

National Geographic Kids includes full-text magazines, books, videos and images, exploring science, animals, technology, cultures and history.

Consortia eResources

NSW.net negotiates consortia opt-in offers on behalf of the NSW public library network. These offers provide significant discounts to public libraries and a diverse range of digital content to suit the information needs of the communities served. 

Libraries can select appropriate digital content in a range of formats including electronic journals, newspapers, eBook, eAudio, online video and music. 

Products are selected in consultation with the NSW Content Working Group and state-wide trials are arranged for most products offered. Products trialled are assessed for their suitability for use in public libraries with particular emphasis placed upon the product interface, ease of use, search functionality and the appropriateness and quality of the content.
